ABOUT US
The Vietnam-Turkey diplomatic ties were established on June 7, 1978. In October 1999, the commercial representative office of Vietnam in Istanbul was founded and upgraded to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Turkey in July 2002. Later, the Consulate General was upgraded to Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Turkey in October 2003 and moved to the capital of Ankara.
Geographically, Turkey is situated at the crossroad among Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The demand of having an Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Istanbul is necessary, aiming at assisting Vietnamese citizens living in Istanbul and transit at the Istanbul international airport, and further strengthening the long friendship between the two countries. To meet the demand, Mr. Ali Tezölmez was appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Istanbul, starting from 15 July 2021, according to the Decision No.1587 signed by Vietnamese Foreign Minister and the “Certificate of Order” issued on 6 August 2021 signed by the Turkish Foreign Minister on behalf of the President of the Republic of Turkey.
