Turkey - Vietnam Relations
Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Vietnam were established in 1978. Turkey has resident Embassies in Hanoi and Vietnam has resident Embassies in Ankara. In addition, work continues on the opening of an active Consulate General of Turkey in Ho Chi Minh City.
The bilateral relations between Turkey and Vietnam are making progress in every field, especially in economy and trade. Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu's visit to Vietnam on 17-19 March 2015 constituted the first bilateral official visit at the level of Foreign Minister from our country to Vietnam after 17 years. Binali Yıldırım's visit to Vietnam on 23-24 August 2017 during his term as Prime Minister was the first official visit from Turkey to this country at the Prime Minister's level.
Within the framework of the efforts to complete the contractual basis of cooperation between Turkey and Vietnam; The Agreement on the Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments and the Avoidance of Double Taxation was signed in 2014, the Air Transport Agreement and Maritime Agreement in 2015, and the Customs Cooperation Agreement in 2017.
A sibling city relationship was established between the cities of Ankara and Hanoi in 2011.
Within the scope of Türkiye Scholarships, a total of 25 Vietnamese citizens benefited from Government Scholarships between 2005-2021.
